GRASTON TECHNIQUE ®

The Graston Technique® is an instrument assisted soft-tissue technique that is used to reduce scar tissue and muscle adhesions that are often found throughout the body.  The Graston tools help to release both the superficial and intermediate fascial and muscular layers. Chiropractic Graston Technique is clinically proven to achieve faster and better outcomes for acute and chronic conditions and injuries such as Achilles Tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndromes, Adhesive Capsulitis, IT Band Syndrome, Lumbar Strain and Plantar Fasciitis.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THERAPY:

Determining if Graston is the ideal course of treatment begins with a clinical assessment of the injury and location of scar tissue development.  A specially designed emollient oil is applied to the skin prior to therapy to help prevent increased friction over the skin surface. The Graston tool is then used to deeply massage the surface of the skin for a short period of time to improve tissue function.  Most often, reddening of the local skin occurs and depending on the patient, severity and intensity of treatment required, the appearance of petechiae (dark red dots) may also occur on the skin surface. Typically, these manifestations dissipate completely within hours to days.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF THE GRASTON TECHNIQUE INCLUDE:

  • Improved joint range of motion.
  • Decreased muscle stiffness and soreness.
  • Accelerated tissue healing and proper scar alignment.
  • Improved localized blood flow.
  • Decreased pain levels.
  • Improvement in the integrity of muscles, ligaments and tendons.

COMMON CONDITIONS THAT BENEFIT FROM THE USAGE OF GRASTON TECHNIQUE:

  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Adhesive Capsulitis
  • IT Band Syndrome
  • Lumbar Strain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
